You heart beats loudly like a drum, its finally that time of year! The excitement shakes you to the core and makes your pelt feel warm all over. You climb through the Tori gates and into the shrine for the event. Your tail sways with eagerness, around you many kems share varied expressions; Some happy, some sad, some disappointed, but the vibe over all is warm and welcoming. You push your way through the bustling crowd and bump into the shrine maiden, Yurei. She gives a bow and lifts her tail with pride, "Welcome, welcome! You can get your foturnes over at that stall, and prayers and offerings are being accepted over that way," she gestures with her paw. You look at her with awe as you admire the shrine maiden outfit she adorns, leading the way towards another part of the event. You glance about you at large, towering statues, all with different expressions and emotions. Your pelt spikes slightly as the stone cold gazes study you, "And here is the banquet area for the Gods, and all their companions. Each god has their own charm to give, make sure to offer them a nice gift and your fortune should be grand!" You nod your head eagerly and turn your muzzle once again at the statues that seem to be painted with a soft glow from the sun. You trail after Yurei with a questioning thought, 'I wonder what the gods have in mind for me this year....' With the welcoming of the new lunar year, plenty of kematas are coming to the temple to ask the gods of Love, Strength, Friendship, Wealth and Success for some luck! A kemata comes up to the statue of the respective demi-god they wish to receive a fortune from and place their paw on their soul stone. Then out pops a fortune! No one’s really sure how those stones work, the Kimoki’s of the Shrine seem to know all these secret ways to get these to work…

About the Fortunes
When you receive a fortune, it will have either one, two or three pawprints on it. These prints represent how lucky your fortune is for the year! One pawprint means that you have Bad Fortune in your near future. But worry not! This doesn’t always mean misfortune, it often means that you will not get much of a boost in that type of luck. Two pawprints mean Good Fortune in your year! This is typically a good sign! Whatever luck you wished for, you’ll be getting a good boost this year! Three pawprints mean you’ll have the Greatest Fortune in your near future! This is fantastic news! Whatever luck you wished for, you’ll be getting the best possible outcome!
About the Demi-Gods
Maru
Goddess of Love, Eternal Bonds that can Span Reincarnations, Crystals, Echos and Caverns.
She is known as the Keeper of the Red Thread of Fate.
It is said that somewhere in the celestial plane is a cavern full of Red Threads of Fate, all intertwined this way and that as kemata’s fates are sealed to who they will meet, as she attends to every kem’s destiny. They also say that if you call for her in any cavern, she will answer back, repeating what you said in her melodic voice, calling you deeper within the crevices. Not much is known about the Goddess Maru, even by her half-siblings, the demi-gods. She spends most of her time hidden away from the world, working tirelessly.
Surge
Deity of Strength, Creativity, Fire and Flame, Wheat and Farming.
They are also associated often with War.
Surge is known as the “Provider of Strength” whether that be in skill or being a comfort for kemata’s in their vulnerable moments.
The Divine Surge can be called upon as well for well wishes in a new year of farming, that the plants may grow to fruit; and they can also be called upon for sparks of Creativity. As quick to anger as they may be, they try their best to keep a level head regardless of the fire burning within. They’re annoyed by their half-siblings, especially Rhinedottir; It is said that if you see a lone shooting star flash by in the night sky, Rhinedottir has caused some mischief in the celestial plane and Surge is chasing after him in a fiery blaze.
Fidessa
Goddess of Friendship, Rivers, Butterflies, the Passing of Time, and Companionship between different species.
She is known as the “Blossoms of Friendship”.
She sees the ripples of time and space, and can see when two kemata’s are fortuned to come together and bond. It is often questioned if Fidessa is jealous of her sister Maru, for not having a paw in love bonds. But she would laugh and say that the bonds of friendship can be just as strong as the bonds of love, for what is friendship if not a different kind of love? Fidessa is a bubbly personality, easy to talk to and kind in nature.
Rhinedottir
God of Wealth, Excess, Precious Metals, Mushrooms and Decay.
He is known as “The Opal-Pelted God” for his iridescent shine.
Some wonder if his fur itself is made of fine opal strands. Rhinedottir can bring great wealth, but he’s also a grim reminder; No matter the amount of excess material possessions you have, death will come for you just the same as the poorest kemata. Rhinedottir is a crafty and tricky God; it is said that walking into a circle of mushrooms will bring you to his domain, where, if you take any of it's riches, he will force you to serve his whims for eternity. He is often used in stories to keep kits from becoming too greedy.
Malinae
God of Success, Fruits; especially Oranges, Drums, Mountain Tops and Lucky Cats.
He is known as “The Beckoning God”, for any kemata that gains his blessing will see great success in their goals!
Kemata’s have claimed seeing sightings of the demi-god while climbing great Ereshkan mountains, often as a warning for bad weather, as soon after a mysterious blizzard sweeps through the area. Malinae is a mystery to the kemata’s of Val-Shenn, often suspected to be living among them disguised as a mortal. But it is assumed he is kind in heart, as he has saved several mountain climbers from a certain death through his omens.
Exchanging Fortunes
The Kimoki’s of the Shrine are Kimoki’s that have sworn off taking a kemata companion to bond to, and instead dedicate their life to serving the Gods. They know the inner workings of the Shrine better than anyone, and it’s often said they have secret doorways they slip in and out of to get from statue to statue unseen. Sometimes, a kemata will try to exchange their bad fortune for a good one, sometimes while tricking another. But nothing happens at this Shrine without the Kimokis knowing about it! A kemata caught trying to swap fortunes will find themselves face to face with an angry Kimoki ready to smack them with whatever they have in paw until they take their fortune back, accompanied with angry squeaks and growls! For this reason, Fortunes are fully account-bound! You are able to trade some of the items after your fortune is redeemed, but you cannot trade the fortune itself.
